Introduction

Noah’s Ark Pre-school is committed to ensuring that any personal data we hold about you and your child is protected in accordance with data protection laws and is used in line with your expectations.

 

This privacy notice explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use it and how we will protect it.

 

What personal data do we collect?

We collect personal data about you and your child to provide care and learning that is tailored to meet your child’s individual needs. We also collect information to verify your eligibility for free childcare as applicable.

 

Personal details that we collect about your child include:

  • your child’s name, date of birth, address, health and medical needs, development needs, and any special educational needs

 

Where applicable we will obtain child, protection plans from social care and health care plans from health professionals.

 

We will also ask for information about who has parental responsibility for your child and any court orders pertaining to your child.

 

Personal details that we collect about you include:

  • your name, home and work address, phone numbers, emergency contact details, and family details

 

This information will be collected from you directly in the registration form.

 

If you apply for up to 30 hours free childcare, we will also collect:

  • your national insurance number or unique taxpayer reference (UTR), if you’re self-employed. We may also collect information regarding benefits and family credits that you are in receipt of.

Why we collect this information and the legal basis for handling your data

We use personal data about you and your child in order to provide childcare services and fulfil the contractual arrangement you have entered into. This includes using your data to:

  • contact you in case of an emergency
  • to support your child’s wellbeing and development
  • to manage any special educational, health or medical needs of your child whilst at our setting
  • to carry out regular assessment of your child’s progress and to identify any areas of concern
  • to maintain contact with you about your child’s progress and respond to any questions you may have
  • to process your claim for up to 30 hours free childcare (only where applicable)
  • to keep you updated with information about our service

 

With your consent, we will also record your child’s activities for their individual learning record. This may include photographs and videos. You will have the opportunity to withdraw your consent at any time, for images taken by confirming so in writing.

 

We have a legal obligation to process safeguarding related data about your child should we have concerns about their welfare. We also have a legal obligation to transfer records and certain information about your child to the school that your child will be attending (see Transfer of Records policy).

 

Who we share your data with

In order for us to deliver childcare services we will also share your data as required with the following categories of recipients:

  • Ofsted – during an inspection or following a complaint about our service
  • banking services to process chip and pin and/or direct debit payments (as applicable)
  • the Local Authority (where you claim up to 30 hours free childcare as applicable)
  • the government’s eligibility checker (as above)
  • our insurance underwriter (if applicable)
  • our setting software management provider (if applicable)
  • the school that your child will be attending

 

We will also share your data if:

  • We are legally required to do so, for example, by law, by a court or the Charity Commission;
  • to enforce or apply the terms and conditions of your contract with us
  • to protect your child and other children; for example, by sharing information with social care or the police;
  • it is necessary to protect our rights, property or safety
  • we transfer the management of the setting, in which case we disclose your personal data to the prospective buyer so they may continue the service in the same way.

 

 

 

 

 

We will never share your data with any other organisation to use for their own purposes

How do we protect your data?

We protect unauthorised access to your personal data and prevent it from being lost, accidentally destroyed, misused, or disclosed by:

Keeping all your information in a locked storage unit within a locked cupboard at the setting.

If your child’s learning diaries are taken home by a practitioner to fill in/ do next steps they will be kept in a locked bag, and then kept in a secure place at their home premises.

Camera’s Mobile phone (passworded) and external hard drives/ memory sticks(encrypted) will only leave the premises with the manager, again in a smaller locked bag, within a locked bag and then kept in a locked cupboard in her home office.

Pre schools lap top will also be passworded and kept in locked cupboard.

Staff Mobile phones are also kept in locked box in a cupboard which is locked during sessions times (each with a personal password)

 

How long do we retain your data?

WE retain your child’s personal data Registers/photos for up to 3 years after your child no longer uses our setting, or until our next Ofsted inspection after your child leaves our setting. Medication records and accident records are kept for longer according to legal requirements. Your child’s learning and development records are maintained by us and handed to you when your child leaves.

Once your child leave the setting your registration forms will be shredded within two weeks

 

In some instances (child protection, or other support service referrals) we are obliged to keep your data for longer if it is necessary to comply with legal requirements (see our Children’s and Provider Records policies).

                                      

 

 

 

Your rights with respect to your data

You have the right to:

  • request access, amend or correct your/your child’s personal data
  • request that we delete or stop processing your/your child’s personal data, for example where the data is no longer necessary for the purposes of processing; and
  • request that we transfer your, and your child’s personal data to another person

 

If you wish to exercise any of these rights at any time or if you have any questions, comments or concerns about this privacy notice, or how we handle your data please contact us. If you continue to have concerns about the way your data is handled and remain dissatisfied after raising your concern with us you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner Office (ICO). CORPUS CHRISTI CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL

Admissions Policy 2017 -18

The following information should be read in conjunction with the 2017-18
Coordinated Admission Scheme published by the Local Council in which area
the child subject to the application lives (the home Council). For those living
within North Somerset the school’s admission arrangements for Reception
Intake are in conjunction with the North Somerset Coordinated Admission
Scheme for new intake primary admissions for 2017-18.

AIM

Corpus Christi is a Catholic Voluntary Aided primary school, which was
established by the Diocese of Clifton to serve the Parishes of Corpus Christi,
Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Joseph’s, Weston-super-Mare and Our Lady
Queen of the Apostles, Cheddar, termed the Parishes and hereafter referred
to as the Parishes. Within the legal framework allowed, and the admission
number, which is 30, it is the intention that all baptised Catholic children living
within these Parishes will be offered a place at Corpus Christi.

INTRODUCTION

1.1 The Governing Body, acting in accordance with the DFE School

Admissions Code an in consultation with Clifton Diocese and North
Somerset Council, is responsible for the admission of pupils.

1.2 The Admission Number for the Foundation/Reception Year (2017-2018) is
30 pupils. This is also the number of places available for Years One to
Six.

MAKING AN APPLICATION

2.1 Applications for a Foundation Stage/Reception place should be made
through your home Council on their Common Application Form and
submitted to them by 23:59 on 15th January 2017, to be considered
in the first round of allocations, if applying on under any of the criteria

for Catholic children/parents, a copy of a baptismal certificate or
evidence (see the Baptismal Certificates section below) must be
submitted to the school. The home Council will make an offer to those
who qualify for a place on behalf of the Governing Body of the school
on 17th April 2017.

2.2 In order to be considered in Categories 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, 4.5, and 4.7
by the Governing Body, who is the Admissions’ Authority, it is essential
to send a Certificate of Baptism to the School Office at Corpus
Christi (a receipt will be given). This must be submitted by 23:59
on 15th January 2017 to be considered in the first round of
applications.

CONSIDERATION OF PLACES TO BE OFFERED

3.1 If there are enough places available to offer all applicants a place the
governing body will do so. In the event of the school being
oversubscribed the Governing Body will rank applications using their
published criteria.

All applications will be ranked in accordance with the criteria below
given in order of priority.

3.2 In the event of there being more applicants within any category than
places priority will be determined by random allocation (drawing lots),
supervised by someone independent of the school.
3.3 Casual (in year) applications i.e. those that fall outside the reception
admissions rounds, will, in the event of over-subscription, be considered
by the Admissions Committee against the priorities listed below.
3.4 The school will hold a list of those Foundation Stage/Reception
Applicants who are still seeking a place at the school until 31st
December 2017. All applications will be ranked in line with the school’s
over- subscription criteria and allocations will be made in accordance
with it.

Each added child to the list will require the list to be ranked again in

line with the above published oversubscription criteria.

Priority will not be given on the basis of the date an application

was added to the list.

CHILDREN WITH A STATEMENT OF SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
OR AN EDUCATION, HEALTH AND CARE PLAN
Where a school is named in a child’s Statement of Special Educational Needs
or Education, Health and Care Plan, the Admission Authority is legally
required to admit the child to the school. Such children will therefore be
allocated places before the over subscription criteria are applied.

ORDER OF PRIORITY

If the school is not over-subscribed all new intake applicants will be offered a
place.

If the school receives more applications than the Admission Number the
following criteria will be used to determine who will be allocated the places.
All applications will be ranked in accordance with the criteria below given in
order of priority:

4.1 Baptised Catholic children in Care at the time of application and
Baptised Catholic children who were previously in Care but ceased to be
so because they were adopted (or became subject to a child
arrangements order or special guardianship order) immediately following
having been in Care.

4.2 Children who are Baptised Catholic and who live within one of the
Parishes named above with a brother or sister attending the school at
the time of admission (see Page 8 for definition).

4.3 Children who are Baptised Catholic and who live within one of the
Parishes named above.

4.4 Children who are Baptised Catholic and who live outside the Parishes
named above and who have a brother or sister attending the school at
the time of admission.

4.5 Children who are Baptised Catholic and who live outside the parishes
named above.

4.6 Children in Care at the time of application and children who were
previously in Care but ceased to be so because they were adopted (or
became subject to a child arrangements order or special guardianship
order) immediately following having been in Care who are not Baptised
Catholic.

4.7 Unbaptised children of a Baptised Catholic parent who live within one of
the Parishes named above.
4.8 Children who are not Baptised Catholic, with a brother or sister attending
the school at the time of admission.

4.9 Children who do not fall into any of the above criteria.

BAPTISMAL CERTIFICATES

In order to be considered within categories 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, 4.4, and 4.5, a copy
of the child’s Certificate of Baptism and in 4.7 a copy of a parent’s Certificate
of Baptism must be provided. Where a certificate is not available, a letter from
a Parish Priest confirming that the child (or parent for 4.7) has (or in their
opinion has) been baptised must be provided.

Evidence must be submitted to the School Office. It must be submitted
by 23:59 on 15th January 2017 to be considered in the first round of
allocations.

APPEALS PROCEDURE

Parents have the right to appeal against the refusal by the Governing Body to
admit their child. Appeals will be arranged by the North Somerset Council and
conducted in accordance with the Code of Practice on Schools Appeals.

INFORMATION FROM THE PREVIOUS YEAR’S ADMISSIONS

For September 2015 the Governing Body received on time applications for the
Foundation Stage/Reception Year under the following categories:

4.1 – 0

4.2 – 5

4.3 – 19

4.4 – 0

4.5 – 1

4.6 – 0

4.7 – 0

4.8 – 4

4.9 – 40

68 applications were received and 30 places were offered.

IN-YEAR APPLICATIONS

If there are more applicants than vacancies for any year group, in-year
applications will be considered in accordance with the above over-subscription
criteria. The school will, where appropriate, consider allocations for children
identified as being from vulnerable groups in accordance with the North
Somerset Council Fair Access Protocol (full details available from North
Somerset Council). An In-Year application form is available upon request
from the school and/or North Somerset Council. The school will only consider
applicants who have completed an application form and, where applicable,
provided the relevant supplementary evidence (see paragraph above –
Baptismal Certificates or Supplementary Evidence).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR FOUNDATION STAGE/RECEPTION

i) Applications can be made online or on paper and should be submitted –

for children living within North Somerset to:

for children living in Somerset (including Cheddar) applications can be
made online or on paper to:

For children living in other areas, parents should apply to their home
Council.

Applications must be submitted by the closing time and date of 23:59 on 15
January 2017 in order to be considered in the first round of school place
allocations.

ii) Applications submitted after the closing time and date will be treated as a

late application and so will not be considered in the first round of allocations

except where both of the following are the case:

. Such late applications are received before North Somerset has details
of applications to other councils;
. The applicant’s home Council has accepted them as if they had been
submitted by the closing time and date.

All other late applications will not be considered until after the first round of

allocations; this may mean that all of the places have been allocated.

On-time applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application on 17th
April 2017 by their home Council.

Admissions of children outside their normal age group:

Applications for delayed or accelerated entry in cases where parents would
like their child to be admitted to a year group that is not the chronological age
year group will be considered. The reasons for the request must be fully
explained in writing and included with the school place application form (or
submitted separately via an on-line service). Parents of summer born children
(born on or between 1 April and 31 August) can ask the Admission Authority
to admit their child into the reception year one year after they would normally
enter the school. Decisions will be made on the basis of the circumstances of
each case and in the best interests of the child, taking into account the social,
emotional and academic development of the child, the views of the Head
Teacher, where relevant the child’s medical history and the views of a medical
professional, whether they have previously been educated out of their normal
age group and whether they may naturally have fallen into a lower age group
if they were not born prematurely.

Where a request for a child to be admitted outside their normal age group has
been agreed, it enables a child to be included as part of the Reception Intake
allocations, the application will then be processed in accordance with these
arrangements and over-subscription criteria where applicable.

Deferred Entry:

Parents offered a place for children who have not yet reached their fifth
birthday have the right to defer their child’s entry until later in the school year
but not beyond the beginning of the final term of the school year for which the
offer was made. In these circumstances, the child may start school in the
Reception year group at a later stage in the academic year, however, he/she
must be in full time education by the start of the term (term 1, 3 or 5 as
appropriate) following his/her fifth birthday. Parents need to make this known
at the time they are offered a place.

Attendance:

All children offered a place are entitled to a full-time place in the September
following their fourth birthday. Where the parents wish, children may attend

part time until later in the school year but not beyond the point at which the
child reaches compulsory school age.

DEFINITIONS and other information

1. A ‘Baptised Catholic’ is one who:

Has been baptised into full communion (cf.Catechism of the Catholic
Church, 837) with the Catholic Church by the rites of baptism of one of
the various ritual churches in communion with the See of Rome (i.e.
Latin Rite, Byzantine Rite, Coptic, Syriac etc cf. Catechism of the
Catholic Church, 1203). Written evidence of this baptism can be
obtained by recourse to the Baptismal Registers of the Church in which
the Baptism took place (cf. Code of Canon Law 877 & 878).

or

Has been validly baptised into a separated ecclesial community and
subsequently received into full communion with the Catholic Church by
the Rite of Reception of Baptised Christians into Full Communion of the
Catholic Church. Written evidence of their baptism and reception into
full communion with the Catholic Church can be obtained by recourse
to the Register of Receptions or in some cases a sub-section of the
baptismal registers of the church in which the Rite of Reception took
place (cf. Rite of Christian Initiation 399). (see Appendix 1)

2. Brothers/sisters.

To be considered as a brother/sister a child must be living at the

same address for the majority of the time* as a full, half, step or
adoptive brother or sister. Full and adoptive brothers/sisters are
children who have the same either biological or adoptive parents.

Half brothers/sisters are defined as children who share only one either
biological or adoptive parent. Step brothers/sisters are defined as
children who are not necessarily related biologically (including Foster
children) but are living in the same household for the majority of the
time* at the address considered to be the address of the child for whom
the application is made.

*A child must be living at an address for at least 50% of the time to be
considered as living there for the majority of the time.

A brother/sister must be attending (or is expected by the school

and/or North Somerset Council to be attending) the school at the time
of admission.

3. Home address.

A child’s home address is considered to be the place where the child
permanently and ordinarily resides for the majority of the time. This
would normally be the same address as the person who has parental
responsibility for the child as their main carer. Those moving should
normally provide independent confirmation of the new address.

4. Children in Care

‘Children in Care’ are children who are (a) in the care of a local council
or (b) being provided with accommodation by a local council in the
exercise of their social services functions (see the definition in section
22(1) of the Children Act 1989).

For Children previously in Care:

– this includes children who were adopted under the Adoption Act 1976
(see section 12 adoption orders) and children who were adopted under
the Adoption and Children Act 2002 (see section 46 adoption orders)

– child arrangements orders are defined in s.8 if the Children Act 1989,
as amended by s.12 of the Children and Families Act 2014. Child
arrangements orders replaced residence orders and any residence
order in force prior to 22 April 2014 is deemed to be a child
arrangements order

– in accordance with Section 14A of the Children Act 1989, a Special
Guardianship Order is defined as an order appointing one or more
individuals to be a child’s special guardian (or special guardians).

Appendix

Churches in Communion with Rome

Personal Ordinariate. Baptised children of parents who are members of the
Ordinariate established under The Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum
Coetibus of November 4th 2009 are to be given equal preference to that
offered to children baptised in a Catholic church. It is important to note that
these children may have been baptised in the Church of England.

There are an equivalent number of Eastern Orthodox Churches with similar
names that are not in union with the See of Rome. The general rule is Eastern
Rite Churches in union with the See of Rome will have the word Catholic in
their titles. Churches with the word Orthodox in their titles are not in union with
the See of Rome and children from these Churches should be considered
after Catholic children. Please refer any queries to the Commission.

Open day

Thank you to all that came to support our open day.

It was lovely to catch up with old friends, colleagues and parents past, present  and future.

We heard lots of stories today about the old hall and the uses its had over the years, going back as far as the 2nd World War when it was used as  school room and also a canteen for the school when it was situated where the pesperatory  stands now.
